Common Reasons people why people book with us

Our nutrition, wellness and lifestyle plans are tailored specifically to you and your symptoms. Below are some of the most common reasons that people come to our clinic:

IBS Symptoms - Digestive issues such as IBS, bloating, constipation, cramping, acid reflux, heartburn

Bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, indigestion and food sensitivities are all signs that your gut is out of balance or can be an indication of thyroid and hormone imbalances. Diet and lifestyle changes can ease such symptoms once the root cause is identified. Causes of digestion issues can be caused by, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), parasites, infections, low stomach acid or even a side effect of certain medications. All of these can be identified by functional testing. It’s also important to remember that 80% of your immune system is in your gut which means that any imbalance in the gut can lead to recurring illnesses, frequent colds, allergies and food sensitivities.

Low Energy, Anxiety and Chronic Fatigue

Often when we are on the go and frankly life gets in the way, we don’t eat well, or we’re eating on the go. Do you ever suffer from a mid afternoon energy slump? These are signs that there are imbalances with our blood sugar levels which can affect our mood, our food choices and generally our sense of well being. A nutritional therapist can assess your diet and make a few simple tweaks to increase and stabilise your energy levels to make sure you feel balanced throughout the day.

Chronic fatigue syndromes such as Fibromyalgia and ME cannot be explained by underlying medical conditions but are often linked to  adrenal fatigue or extensive inflammation. Symptoms that are associated with these conditions include joint pain, muscle pain, poor concentration, poor memory, headaches, night sweats, and digestive disorders.  These conditions can often be improved by positive changes to diet and lifestyle.

Weight management

Your goal may be to gain weight, lose weight or  simply make changes to your body composition.  The important thing to remember is no one plan fits all when it comes to weight management, we tailor our plans to meet your aims and lifestyle supporting you with meal plans, bespoke recipes and food and lifestyle coaching.

With a history of yo-yo dieting and poor nutrition, our metabolism can become sluggish which can then lead to disorders such as insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, cardio and cholesterol issues.  Through our meal planning and food coaching services we can help you improve your diet and lifestyle without having to face another weightloss class again. We will teach you simple techniques to make sure you are eating the right foods at the right times to improve your health  and get you to a happy and healthy weight.

If you have a blood sugar related condition such as diabetes, a hormonal imbalance or issue with your cardiovascular health. We will take into account your medication and make slow and gently tweaks to your existing diet to support you improving your condition.

Allergies and skin complaints, e.g. eczema, asthma

Allergies and skin conditions are a sign that the immune system is not working properly and even over-reacting. As a NT we will look at the causes of these symptoms .Working to improve the gut health can have some amazing results to ease symptoms.

Migraines and Headaches

Food sensitivities are often the triggers for migraines and regular headaches. Removing ‘amines’ such as chocolate, cheese, wine and citrus fruits whilst also rebalancing any gut issues can help resolve frequent migraines or headaches.

Female hormone imbalances leading to PMS, PCOS, Endometriosis, fertility issues, menopausal symptoms

If we think about our bodies in terms of car engines, the female body is a bit like a Ferrari compared to the male body which is more like a Ford Escort.  This means for the ladies, there is a lot more to go wrong or to rebalance especially when it come to our hormones. From polycystic ovaries to PMS, fertility to coping with the menopause to endometriosis. All these can affect our moods, coping strategies, energy levels and weight. Through diet and lifestyle there are many options for improving hormonal imbalances such as PMS, PMT and fertility problems.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal disorders that we see in women. It is closely associated with infertility issues affecting many women of childbearing age.  Symptoms include weight gain, excessive hair growth, irregular periods, acne and fertility issues. PCOS sufferers are at a higher risk of diabetes, anxiety and mood swings, metabolic syndrome, and heart disease. However with the right nutrition, lifestyle and wellness plan, there are many ways to support PCOS sufferers with their symptoms.

Thyroid dysfunction

An overactive or underactive thyroid can be difficult to identify through standard GP tests due to limited testing available to them. Changes to metabolism, heart function, digestion, energy, appetite, hair, nails, sleep and mood can all be signs that the thyroid is over-producing or under-producing sufficient hormones.

Poor Sleep

Dietary choices have a huge impact on sleep. Many of us rely on stimulants such as coffee and energy drinks to get through the afternoon slump,  and then alcohol to unwind at night. This either stops us from nodding off at night, or waking up in the middle of the night, which leads to us feeling un-refreshed when we wake.

Introducing slow releasing energy foods, reducing stimulants after 4pm and introducing a bedtime routine can help break this cycle.
