FAQ for Professionals

YGD is the acronym for Yerba Mate, Guarana and Damiana the three main ingredients found in Curb along with B3 and B6 vitamins. Curb® is the brand name.

Through experience, we have found the best way to take Curb is one capsule with a small glass of water, ideally 15 minutes before meals – taking a maximum of 3 capsules daily, aiming to reduce the portion size for each meal.

However, if your client forgets the 15 mins guideline, the important point is the take the capsule before each meal and not after. To see significant weight loss, studies show that Curb needs to be taken consistently for at least 45 days.

To see significant weight loss, studies show that Curb needs to be taken consistently for at least 45 days.

Original studies indicated that taking the formulation did alter people’s attitude and preferences towards food in a positive way long term. However, if clients gain more than a kilo, after stopping, we would advise taking Curb again for a short period.

There is no research or evidence during the last 20 years to show there are any side effects from the YGD formulation and no evidence of any gastrointestinal issues.

There is no published research to show that YGD modulates gut microbiota however through the studies on mice we can assume that it does cause modulation of the microbiota due to the weight loss results.

During the research, there was no specific diet or lifestyle requirements – the trialists, 23 overweight women were allowed to eat whatever they wanted. The YGD formulation was originally sold as a stand-alone product and is effective as such. However, as practitioners we know sustainable long term weight loss is multi-factorial and we feel it is more ethical and supportive to clients to use it as part of our nutrition and lifestyle support programmes.

As a weight loss practitioner, I find it is important to address the underlying root issues that maybe contributing to weight loss resistance and so would recommend supporting your client to address SIBO before starting Curb. If someone is taking Pro-kinetics, we wouldn’t recommend taking Curb at the same time.

Curb can be used by any adults to support weight loss and improve eating habits. However with a BMI over 30 we would always recommend it is used as part of a programme under supervision of a Nutritional Therapist / Weight Loss Practitioner.

Curb would be helpful for cholesterol level optimisation.

We would not recommend people with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. As stated on the packet, we would always recommend consulting your GP if you have any concerns with interactions.

Sometimes we know that people forget to take a capsule 15 minutes before a meal. We would always recommend still taking the capsule with the meal so that the effect will be felt later on in the day.

Yes, because research shows that it increases thermogenesis (metabolism) and decreases adipogenesis. We know that it can switch on the genes that improve weight loss and convert white adipose tissue to the more metabolic beige adipose tissue.

We wouldn’t recommend using Curb for under 18’s or pregnant women.

Each capsule contains 30mg of caffeine naturally from the herbal compounds. If a client/patient is sensitive to caffeine, we would recommend that whilst taking Curb they don’t consume any other caffeine and only take two capsules a day –at breakfast and lunch and not take one before their evening meal.
